ARMA's policy priorities

An overview of our work

ARMA works at national level to improve MSK health by bringing organisations together to influence policy, shape services and drive system change. We convene partners across the MSK community to support the shift towards prevention, neighbourhood health, better care and improved participation for the 20 million people living with musculoskeletal conditions.

We publish policy position papers and reports, develop practical resources, coordinate campaigns and support collaboration across the health and care system. Through this work we aim to ensure MSK health is recognised as a foundation of a healthier and more productive nation.

Our work helps connect national policy ambitions with practical service improvement, supporting better integration of MSK health within wider priorities such as prevention, long term conditions, work and health, and reducing inequalities.

Our work has been influential and cited by policymakers, NHS leaders and voluntary sector partners.

We have identified several priority policy areas which reflect where ARMA believes change is most needed to improve outcomes and strengthen the MSK system. For each, we have created a policy resource hub bringing together reports, briefings and evidence to support better policy, stronger services and meaningful system change.

Together these priority areas form ARMA’s framework for improving MSK health through coordinated system change.
